Rome. Tourist protest before the Colosseum due to the visit of the US Vice President JD Vance and closing the amphitheater

Before the Colosseum in Rome, there was a protest of tourists on Saturday, who wanted to see the symbol of the eternal city, and instead came across white and red barriers and police cordons. The facility was unexpectedly closed two hours ahead of time due to the planned visit of the US Vice President JD Vance. Ultimately, only his wife arrived.

Tourists, among whom there were many foreigners, protested loudly, chanting in Italian and English “let us in!”. Before the Colosseum, surrounded by barriers in connection with the visit of the American delegation, there was chaos. The gathered waved the tickets bought previously.

Ultimately, the American vice president, visiting with the Rome family, did not come to the Colosseum, which was later explained by other duties. His wife Usha came, whose entry into the amphitheater caused further loud protests.

Tourists can recover money

In connection with the polemic that occurred, the management of the Colosseum Archaeological Park explained that she had provided to buyers of the ticket to buyers about the earlier closing of the amphitheater at the request of the Roman police headquarters.

Tourists were also informed about the possibility of refunding. Tourist offices were also notified about the dismissal of the visit – the management assured.
