Information about the incident was announced by the Governor of the Stavropol Krai, Vladimir Vladimirov, on Friday morning on social media. “Urgent news. A plane crashed into a field in the Krasnogvardiya district. According to operational data, there was no damage or casualties, the pilots ejected,” he wrote, attaching photos of the crashed machine.
He added that the causes of the incident are being investigated. “I will provide further information. Do not trust unverified sources. Use only official information,” he stressed.
Russia. A Russian Tu-22M bomber crashed
In the next message, he reported that two pilots who were in the plane had been found. “They are alive, we are taking them to the hospital. All services are working on site,” he wrote.
The Ministry of Defense also commented on the incident. “In the Stavropol Krai, after completing a combat mission, a Tu-22M3 plane crashed while returning to base. The pilots ejected,” the Russian Ministry of National Defense reported.
According to the ministry, three crew members have been found and the search for the fourth is ongoing.
The Ukrainska Pravda website, citing information appearing on social media, reported that the Tu-22M3 plane, which is used by the Russian army for attacks in Ukraine, most likely crashed in Russia. As added, the machine was supposed to be shot down.
“The spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, Ilya Yevlash, could not confirm or deny the information that the plane was shot down,” the portal reports. – We are currently checking the information – said the spokesman.
Former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Anton Herashchenko, said via social media that there is information that the plane that crashed at night was involved in an attack on Ukraine.
