An adult zebra named Sero escaped from the Seoul Zoo and ran around the city for several hours, Reuters reported. Videos of the striped animal circulating the Internet passed cars stuck in traffic jams and wandered around a housing estate.

The incident took place on March 23 in one of the residential districts of Seoul. A zebra named Sero, which translates to “vertical” in Korean, escaped from a zoo at a children’s play park, Reuters reported. For the next three hours, she circled the streets of the surrounding housing estates, attracting the eyes of surprised passers-by.

In the shared recordings, the animal can be seen running around the city streets, performing a slalom between cars and people, as well as the narrow streets of Seoul’s Gwangjin district. Reuters reports that the zebra also rummaged in household garbage containers.

Eventually, the animal was captured by using a muscle relaxant, which was administered to the zebra by means of a dart shot at it. As you can see in one of the recordings, after receiving the drug, the zebra began to stagger on its legs, and finally collapsed on the road. Then the services – in the strength of a dozen or so people – tied her limbs and safely transported back to the zoo.

Zoo authorities told the AP that the animal is in a stable condition and has not suffered any serious injuries. Meanwhile, recordings showing the “hunt” for Sero quickly went viral and circulated on Twitter. “Literally – a zebra on the road” – the author of the comment quoted by Reuters summed up the whole situation.
