Srem. Mysterious poisoning in the building. Four people were hospitalized

On Thursday, after 11 a.m., the duty officer of Śrem firefighters received a report about the poor well-being of the residents of one of the buildings in the city. By the time firefighters arrived, the home’s occupants were already standing in front of the building. Six of them complained of headache and shortness of breath.

Firefighters gave the injured people oxygen. When the ambulances arrived on the scene, two more people felt bad, had symptoms similar to those of the previous six people.

Firefighters decided to evacuate the entire building – a total of 17 people. During the evacuation, secured firefighters checked the flats using a multi-gas detector – no irregularities were found – brig. Tomasz She chose from the State Fire Service in Śrem.

Due to the lack of identification of the substance by the measuring devices, the Specialist Chemical Rescue Group from the Rescue and Fire Fighting Unit No. 6 in Poznań was sent to the site.

Upon arrival, she checked the apartments with detectors and took samples for analysis. – Detectors and analyzers of chemical substances of the specialist group did not indicate the presence of harmful gas – informs Wyborała.

Everything indicates that the malaise of the residents was caused by smoke from the sewage system. – Works aimed at smoke-filling the sewage system were carried out by employees of the Śrem waterworks a few hours earlier – explains Wyborowa.

Eventually, four people, including two children, were taken to the hospital in Śrem.
