On Wednesday, thermometers in southern Poland showed 22.9 degrees Celsius. As Tomasz Wasilewski, the TVNmeteo.pl presenter explained on TVN24, the weather in our country was closer to May than March yesterday. These values were also unique against the background of Europe.
In some parts of Poland, Wednesday turned out to be extremely warm – in the Lesser Poland voivodship, at Siercza and Kraków -Wola Justowska, a maximum temperature of 22.9 degrees Celsius was recorded.
“Such high value has not been recorded at the beginning of March,” said the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management in social media.
One of the warmest places in Europe
The presenter of TVNmeteo.pl Tomasz Wasilewski explained in the program “You get up and you know” that on Wednesday a positive temperature anomaly actually occurred throughout Europe, except for the Iberian Peninsula and some of the Mediterranean Islands. – The deviation from this ordinary temperature at this time of year, at the beginning of March, was about 15 degrees – he explained. – This is something shocking (…) In many places we had not the beginning of March, and the end of May or the turn of May and June, if we look at the average temperature – he added.
The values that appeared on thermometers in southern Poland on Wednesday, turned out to be one of the highest on the continent. The comparable temperature was observed only in the Balkans, in the region of Bosnia and Herzegovina – there it reached 23-24 degrees C.
The tropical mass of air coming over Europe meant that the cold was temporarily pushed in the north-east regions of the continent. Negative values were recorded on Wednesday only at the farthest edges of Scandinavia and Russia.
