Aaron Sorkin—who wrote the screenplay for the 2010 movie—shared that he is engaged on a sequel, revealing that he is making an attempt to write down a script about Facebook‘s connection to the January 6 United States Capitol assault. 

Hinting at his thesis for the film, Sorkin stated throughout an April 26 live recording of The City podcast, “I blame Fb for January 6.”

“Fb has been, amongst different issues, tuning its algorithm to advertise essentially the most divisive materials potential,” he continued. “As a result of that’s what will enhance engagement. That’s what will get you to—what they name contained in the hallways of Fb—‘the infinite scroll.'”

Sorkin did not share whether or not the follow-up will contain unique stars Andrew GarfieldJesse EisenbergArmie Hammer and Justin Timberlake.

The West Wing creator went on to notice that social media platforms ought to be battling a “fixed rigidity” between “development and integrity.”
