On Thursday, May 4, officers of the Vistula Border Guard Department intervened four times against passengers who “posed a danger on board the planes”. The events took place at Chopin Airport and Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, it was reported.

During the flight, two men and a woman smoked cigarettes, drank their own alcohol, harassed other travelers and did not follow the crew’s instructions, which violated the provisions of the Aviation Law. “Foreigners were punished with fines for their behavior. On the other hand, a Polish citizen was placed in a center for intoxicated persons. After sobering up, further actions will be taken against the man” – said the Nadwiślański Border Guard Unit in a communiqué.

“She said she had a bomb in her luggage”

As added, the fourth intervention was caused by the irresponsible behavior of a Polish citizen “who declared that she had a bomb in her luggage”. “A woman with a bag, assisted by officers of the Special Intervention Group, voluntarily left the plane. As it turned out, after checking, the passenger did not have any prohibited items with her or her luggage. Therefore, a misdemeanor case was initiated against the 37-year-old woman” – it was pointed out.

The woman will answer from Art. 66 § 1 sq. (Whoever wants to cause an unnecessary action, false information or otherwise misleads a public utility institution or an authority to protect security, public order or health – is subject to arrest, restriction of liberty or a fine of up to PLN 1,500).

The Border Guard reserves that “jokes” regarding security may result in “incurring the costs of evacuation or cancellation of the flight, and even criminal charges. False alarms are punishable by up to 8 years in prison.”
