Six civilians were injured, including a foreign volunteer,” the head of the Donetsk region, Governor Pavlo Kyrylenko, announced on Telegram.

As a result of the shelling, the governor added, at least 19 buildings, a school and a business were damaged.

Kyrylenko noted that Konstantynivka, located about 30 kilometers southwest of Bakhmut, is under constant shelling from Russian troops.

Previously, the Bakhmut garrison consisted mainly of mechanized units of the Armed Forces Ukraine, while currently these are specialized formations subordinate to military intelligence (HUR) and other units prepared to conduct street fights, Ukrainian politician Pavlo Zebrivsky, president of the Military Brotherhood of Ukraine organization, governor of the Donetsk region in 2015-2018, announced on Espreso TV on Wednesday. . As he added, there are no problems with the supply of Ukrainian forces in Bakhmut, including the supply of arms, because Ukraine controls two roads leading to Bakhmut – the route to Chasiw Yaru and Kostiantynivka and one of the dirt roads.

On Monday, Ukrainian troops made a successful attack near the village of Chromowe, which allowed to restore the functioning of the key communication route Kostiantynivka-Czasiv Yar-Bachmut. The route to Słowiańsk is under fire from the enemy, so it cannot be used, the politician announced.

Żebrivski assured that even a possible withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Bakhmut would not mean a quick enemy offensive in Donbass. “The situation is not critical because a second line of defense has been prepared behind Bakhmut,” he said.

Russian forces have been trying to take Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast since August 2022. The heaviest and bloodiest fighting in the war is currently taking place there Russia with Ukraine. Despite forecasts that the command in Kiev may decide to withdraw from the city, Ukrainian troops continue the defense of Bakhmut.
