Police arrested a young man who is suspected of stealing batteries from electric scooters. Losses were estimated at tens of thousands of zlotys. A 15-year-old from Piastów near Warsaw came to the capital in his father’s car.
Police officers received a report in this case on the night of January 30-31. – According to the residents’ accounts, the strangely behaving man most likely dismantled the batteries from the electric scooters – informs Jakub Pacyniak, spokesman for the Ochota police. The indicated place at Grójecka Street was reached by patrolmen who, according to the spokesman, confirmed the theft of the battery.
Arrested in the act
– The perpetrator was not there. At the same time, a few hundred meters away, on Dantyszka Street, another uniformed crew from the Ochota police station, alerted by an employee of a company providing two-wheel rental services, detained a suspected young man. It turned out to be a 15-year-old, a resident of Piastów near Warsaw. The detainee confessed to several thefts committed on the same night in Warsaw, says Pacyniak.
As he adds, the officers discovered that the minor was driving his father’s car without his knowledge. – Inside, five freshly dismantled batteries from electric scooters and specialized equipment have been secured. The case is developing, and the total value of the stolen items and the damage caused may amount to several dozen thousand zlotys. The family court will decide on the fate of the juvenile, the police officer said.
An appeal to owners of electric scooters
Pacyniak also appeals to owners of electric scooters. – To properly secure the property left in public spaces, such as staircases, underground garages. Pay attention to people behaving suspiciously in the vicinity of our residence or trying to get inside the building. Let’s protect our property. Doing so will make it harder to steal. We should immediately inform the services of all disturbing signals under the emergency number 112.
