Warsaw. The Christmas tree lit up on Castle Square

The Christmas tree at Castle Square is 27 meters high. It is made of energy-saving and modern materials. It is illuminated by over 40,000 RGB LED lights.

Christmas illuminations have been operating in the capital since Wednesday. Light attractions reminiscent of Warsaw from half a century ago appeared on the Royal Route and Świętokrzyska Street. Baubles, Christmas tree lights and chains made of bark paper, but also carbonators, shop scales and a telephone with a dial. Finally, old Warszawa and Syrena cars and a Ryś moped.

The illumination will help the youngest to get to know the atmosphere of their grandparents’ childhood. Retro carousels and toys await children on Hoover Square.

So that city residents and guests can admire the light decorations in comfortable conditions on all December weekends (as well as during the Christmas and New Year period), Nowy Świat and Krakowskie Przedmieście streets will once again turn into a promenade. All illuminations will be visible until approximately mid-February next year.

Other events as part of the Warsaw Christmas Festival also take place in the capital. On the weekends before Christmas, there will be concerts at the Bristol Hotel, at ul. Tokarzewski-Karaszewicza, and on the square of Fr. Jan Twardowski. The performances will start at 3:45 p.m. with a light show. Then until At 8 p.m. there will be a musical feast, and after 8 p.m. there will be a light show again. The following musicians will perform: the Mykanów Youth Brass Band, Musical Theater Soloists, A3 Theater, Brass Federation, the University of Technology Academic Choir, Stan Breckenridge and the Makata Art Theater. Additionally, street theaters will perform in the Podzamcze area.

On December 12, the Warsaw Caroling Concert will take place in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. There are no more tickets, but the concert will be rebroadcast on Christmas Eve on TVN. The most beautiful carols will be sung with the accompaniment of Sinfonia Varsovia, among others: Kayah, Natalia Kukulska, Natalia Szroeder, Piotr Kupicha, Stanisław Sojka, Ewa Farna, Natalia Nykiel, Beata Kozidrak.
