A yacht fire broke out on Lake Śniardwy on Sunday. The unit, where two people were staying, started to burn for unknown reasons. Passengers were picked up by a boat passing nearby. Nobody was hurt in the incident.
Around 14:30, the Water Rescue Coordination Center in Giżycko received a report about a yacht fire on Lake Śniardwy.
“For unknown reasons, the yacht with two people on board started to burn” – informs the Masurian Volunteer Rescue Service.

As reported, no one was injured in the incident. “Sailors from the burning boat were picked up safe and sound by a nearby yacht,” the statement said.
Despite the firefighting action, the yacht began to take on water and almost completely sank – only the bow was above the surface. “The partially sunken vessel was towed away from the navigable route so that it would not endanger other sailors” – MOPR informed.

The cause of the fire was not given. However, the services appealed for safety when using electrical devices, stoves, gas cylinders and farels, especially while staying on the yacht.
