The several-hour assault by the supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro on the most important institutions in the country has its consequences. Recordings from Congress, the Supreme Court and, in particular, the Planalto presidential palace reveal a sad picture of extensive destruction.
Thousands of supporters of the former head of state broke through the security cordons on Sunday afternoon and attacked the buildings of Congress, the Supreme Court and the Planalto presidential palace. Although the security services managed to bring the situation under control after about four hours, massive damage could not be prevented.
Those made in the presidential palace of Planalto were presented on social media by the Minister of Communications in the office of the incumbent President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Paulo Pimenta. He spoke of “crime” as he presented the destruction done to his office. The protesters showed no mercy to furniture, televisions and even works of art.
Another video of the building was presented by journalist Robert Valencia, reminding that “mad supporters of Bolsonaro are destroying the architectural gem of the now deceased Oscar Niemeyer”.
The video shows, among others, a man dressed in national colors breaking a window.
Protesters who forced their way into the Senate jumped onto benches and desks. As in the Supreme Court:
