Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said special teams are still searching for the object that was shot down on his orders over Canadian territory the day before. “There are still many things we need to clarify. Therefore, the study of this object will be very important – he stressed.

On Saturday, the North American Air Defense Command (NORADC) detected unidentified object in Canadian airspace. Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau ordered its downing, which was done by an American F-22 fighter. Authorities said the object was cylindrical in shape and was being searched for by the military and federal police. It was shot down over the northern part of the territory Canada.

“I ordered the shooting down of an unidentified object that violated Canadian airspace. NORAD Command shot down an object over the Yukon. Canadian and US aircraft were immediately called into action and a US F-22 successfully shot down the object,” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Twitter.

“Teams are in place to find and then investigate the object,” he said.

Formerly Majority Leader in the US Senate Chuck Schumer told ABC that U.S. officials believe both the object shot down over Canada on Saturday and the one shot down over Alaska on Friday are balloons.

Treudeau had telephone consultations with Biden

The North American Air Defense Command detected the mysterious object on Friday evening.

US fighters based in Alaska monitored the object as it entered Canadian airspace, and Canadian planes later joined the operation.

“U.S. F-22 shot down an object in Canadian territory using an AIM-9X missile with close co-operation between authorities USA and Canada,” Pentagon spokesman General Patrick Ryder said in a statement.

The Pentagon also reported that the US president Joe Bidenafter talking to Trudeau, authorized the U.S. Army to work with Canada to shoot down the object.

“Leaders discussed the importance of retrieving the object to determine more details about its purpose or origin,” Biden said in a statement after Trudeau spoke.
