Church in Rzeszów – inscriptions painted on the walls

We received information about the inscriptions painted on the wall of the building on Sunday afternoon at Kontakt 24. We also received photos showing the wall of the church with the inscriptions “Willa plus”, “You steal from children”, “Srebrniki Czarnka” and “Shame!”.

Reports of property damage were confirmed in an interview with tvn24. en Rzeszow police.

– Today in the afternoon, police officers from Rzeszów received a notification regarding the destruction of property, placing inscriptions on a building intended for a church at Solidarności Street in Rzeszów, activities are being carried out to clarify the matter and determine the perpetrator of this event – ​​informed Commissioner Dominika Kopeć from the press team of the Headquarters Provincial Police in Rzeszów. For such acts, the Penal Code provides for imprisonment from three months to five years.

It is in this building that the foundation that received half a million zlotys from the Minister of Education and Science, Przemysław Czarnek, is located in November last year.

As part of the competition “Development of the infrastructural potential of entities supporting the education and upbringing system” Minister Przemyslaw Czarnek gave away PLN 40 million in November 2022. Out of 46 organizations that are beneficiaries of the Ministry of Education and Science competition, 11 were registered only in 2020-2022. In addition, the applications of eight of them in the first stage received a negative assessment by experts – and they got money anyway.

One of the described organizations is Fundacja “Solidarni” im. Fr. Jerzy Popiełuszko, which was established in September 2022 in Rzeszów and received PLN 500,000 for the “adjustment of the facility” – despite the negative opinion of experts. This is the youngest foundation that received funding from Minister Czarnek in November last year.

In the news from January this year, we read that the foundation is creating an Intergenerational Education Centre. “In the newly established parish church of Fr. Jerzy Popieluszko, its basement with an area of ​​800 m² was developed and intended for this purpose, which – thanks to the efforts of many donors and donors – is systematically heading to its final destination” – he informs.

In addition, on January 19, the foundation inaugurated the activities of the Catholic University of Working People Blessed Fr. Jerzy Popiełuszko in Rzeszów. Its mission is to promote comprehensive human development in the ‘School for Life’ (according to the Grundtvigian method) to fulfill human duties towards the Homeland, Nation and Church in the light of the values ​​promoted by the Catholic Social Teaching.
