Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia appealed to Kamiński and Wąsik to refrain from parliamentary activities. The decision of the Speaker of the Sejm to terminate the mandates of Kamiński and Wąsik followed the final judgment of the District Court in Warsaw, which sentenced them to two years in prison.
When asked about Hołownia’s decision, Kamiński said that “it is a completely illegal action.” – As I understand it, Mr. Hołownia has started the procedure, which is ongoing. It was reported, among other things, that “on December 27, 2023, the defense attorney of two convicts submitted a request to discontinue the enforcement proceedings (referring to the fact that the convicts were pardoned by the President of the Republic of Poland), or to refuse to initiate the proceedings until the decision of the Speaker of the Sejm on the expiry of the mandate of an MP. It was added that the application will be considered after the 14-day period specified in the Regulations on the operation of common courts.
