A 59-year-old man from Gorzów Wielkopolski (Lubuskie Voivodeship) is suspected of throwing his friend’s dog out the window of his apartment. The quadruped survived the fall, but requires specialist treatment. The 59-year-old explained to police that he was “annoyed by the barking of the animal”.

Information about an injured dog, which was most likely thrown out of the window of one of the tenement houses at ul. Krzywousty in Gorzów was picked up by the police on Friday (March 31), after 6 p.m. The patrol that arrived at the site found several people there. The officers spoke to the owner of the apartment on the second floor indicated by the witnesses, where the incident allegedly took place. At that time, he hosted friends in his house who were with his dog.

– At one point, the 59-year-old became annoyed by the barking of the animal. He then took the dog and threw it on the floor, then threw it out the window. Many people became interested in the animal. The injured dog was taken to the hospital. In order for him to return to fitness, specialist care is necessary – informed Grzegorz Jaroszewicz from the police in Gorzów Wielkopolski.

During the arrest of the 59-year-old, police found ammunition in his apartment, for which he did not have a permit. He faces up to three years in prison for animal abuse, and up to eight years for illegal possession of ammunition.

The dog was taken into the care of the Animal Aid Association “Azyl”. “As a result of the fall, he suffered a severe fracture of the femur with dislocation,” the post said on social media. And added: “We do not agree that in our city, or in any other place, such bestial acts against animals take place.”
