Hans Rausing's first wife died in tragic circumstances

Rausing's first wife, Eva, died in tragic circumstances in 2012 due to – as the Guardian wrote at the time – “suspected heart failure combined with drug use.” They lived together for 19 years and had four children.

According to The Independent, as a widower, despite intense media attention, Rausing remained private. He married his second wife, née Delves Broughton, in 2014. Julia Rausing's friends say she bore the disease with great courage while, with her husband, creating one of the world's leading philanthropies. A friend of the couple told The Independent that “they were clearly in love and treated each other with tenderness.” – Without a doubt, (Julia) helped Hans overcome his terrible grief and find joy in life again.

Before she met her future husband, Julia Rausing was an art expert at Christie's auction house. Her sister was Isabella Blow, a famous fashion editor and one of the most influential figures in the fashion world for her generation. After many years of struggling with depression, Blow died in 2007.
