The man broke into the presbytery of the church in Węgrów. – The 53-year-old suspect was arrested in the act. He will spend the next few months in custody, said the younger aspirant Monika Księżopolska from the Poviat Police Headquarters in Węgrów.
The duty officer of the Węgrów command received a report of a burglary at the presbytery of one of the local churches. The police went to the temple. It turned out then that the thief, taking advantage of the absence of the clergy, got inside. – While looking for loot, he was captured by priests who returned earlier than originally planned – explained the younger aspirant Monika Księżopolska.
Charges and arrest
She added that the 53-year-old was handed over to the officers. – During the activities carried out, police officers from the Węgrów police station established that a few days earlier, the detained man also broke into another rectory in Węgrów, from where he stole items with a total value of PLN 650 – reported the younger aspirant Monika Księżopolska.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary. The District Court in Węgrów placed him in pre-trial detention for three months. He is facing up to 10 years in prison for his crimes.
