IMGW warns of heavy snowfall. First degree alarms are in force in provinces located in the south of the country. The forecast shows that up to 30 centimeters of snow will fall in places. Check where the winter aura can take its toll.
Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first-level warnings on a three-level, ascending scale.
IMGW alerts of the first degree – heavy snowfall
Heavy snow alerts are in effect in the following provinces:
– Lesser Polandin the following poviats: Tatrzański, Nowy Targ, Sucha, Limanowski, Nowy Sącz;
– Silesianin Żywiec and Cieszyn counties.
Synoptics forecast rainfall causing an increase in snow cover by about 10-15 centimeters. Above 700 m above sea level, up to 20 centimeters of snow can fall, and up to 30 cm of snow high in the mountains.
The warning will be in effect from 3 p.m. Tuesday until 5 p.m. 22 on Wednesday. Only in the Tatra poviat, the alarms will be in force from midnight to 20 on Tuesday.
What is the first degree IMGW meteorological warning
The first degree warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material damage and threat to health and life. Running a business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from activities in the area where the threat occurs, including delays caused by traffic obstructions, disruptions in the course of outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution recommended, the need to follow messages and weather developments.
