The signing of the contract for the design and construction of the S74 road through Kielce was announced by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways. This will be possible because the tender control by the Public Procurement Office has ended.
As reported by MaĆgorzata Pawelec-Buras, spokeswoman for the Kielce branch GDDKiA, the obligatory prior control of the tender for the implementation of another tender in the province of ĆwiÄtokrzyskie investment along the S74 expressway. The proceedings concerned the design and construction of the Kielce ZachĂłd – Kielce junction section. The next step will be to sign a contract with the contractor selected in the tender.
Construction of the S74 road through Kielce
The investment will be carried out by PrzedsiÄbiorstwo UsĆug Technicznych Intercor for PLN 713.4 million. The implementation contract will be signed after the contractor has provided the required documents, including the performance bond.
The new section of the S74 expressway, approximately 5 km long, will connect the Kielce ZachĂłd junction at the intersection with the S7 expressway with the Bocianek junction built as part of the S74 Kielce – Cedzyna.
– The investment will effectively separate the transit traffic from the local one, thanks to the S74 main route being placed in the excavation for the most part. As part of the work, there will be two road tunnels. The investment as part of the government’s National Road Construction Program will contribute to improving the safety and comfort of travelers both in transit and locally within Kielce – indicated the GDDKiA spokeswoman.
The new section of S74 will be covered in about three minutes. All existing north-south transport connections will be maintained for local traffic, including pedestrian traffic. Local intersections will be located over the expressway, mostly at the current level.
There will be two road junctions
As part of the investment, the construction of two road junctions (HubalczykĂłw, ZagnaĆska) and two tunnels is planned. The longer one, about half a kilometer, is planned on the section adjacent to the housing estate between Klonowa and Warszawska streets. It is a response to the demands of the city’s inhabitants. It is also planned to construction of an overpass over S74 along TransportowcĂłw Street and a roundabout over the tunnel under Olszewskiego Street. A bicycle path will also be built along the new section.
The new road will be implemented in the Design and Build system. Detailed technical solutions will be developed at the construction design stage. The investment will be a continuation of the actions already taken under S74.
In March 2022, the construction of S74 PrzeĆom/MniĂłw – Kielce ZachĂłd junction began, which means that after the construction of the crossing through Kielce, drivers will continue to use the nearly 30-kilometre section of the expressway between MniĂłw and Cedzyna. The construction of the OpatĂłw bypass along the S74 in the ĆwiÄtokrzyskie Voivodeship is also underway.
