IMWM warns about storms. Level 2 storm warnings are in force in nine voivodeships on Sunday. In some places, hail and strong wind gusts, reaching up to 100 kilometers per hour, are expected. Lower level alerts are also in force.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued second- and first-degree meteorological warnings.

IMWM second degree warnings – storms

Second degree storm alerts are in force in the following voivodeships:

  • Pomeranianoutside western counties;
  • Warmian-Masurian Voivodeshipin the east of the voivodeship;
  • Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship;
  • Masovian Voivodeshipin north-eastern counties;
  • Łódźin the west of the region;
  • Greater Polandin eastern counties;
  • Lower Silesiain the following counties: Trzebnica, Milicz, Oleśnica;
  • Opole provincein the following counties: Namysłów, Kluczbork, Olesno;
  • Silesianin the following counties: Kłobuck, Częstochowa, Częstochowa.

Storms are forecast, accompanied by heavy rainfall of up to 30 liters per square meter in places and wind gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour, locally up to 100 km/h. There may be hail in places.

The alerts will come into effect on Sunday at 12 noon and will expire at 10 p.m.

On Sunday, lower-level storm warnings are also in force in the following voivodeships:

  • West Pomeranian Voivodeshipin the east of the voivodeship;
  • Pomeranianin poviats not covered by higher level alerts;

  • Lubuskiein Wschowski County;
  • Lower Silesiaexcept for poviats covered by higher level alerts and the west of the voivodeship;
  • Opole provincein poviats not covered by higher level alerts;
  • Silesianexcept for poviats covered by the second level warning;
  • Lesser Poland;
  • Podkarpackiein the west of the region;
  • Świętokrzyskie;
  • Łódźin poviats not covered by the second level warning;
  • Masovian Voivodeshipexcept counties covered by higher level alerts and eastern counties;
  • Podlasieoutside Hajnówka County;
  • Warmian-Masurian Voivodeshipin poviats not covered by the second level warning.

Thunderstorms are forecast, accompanied by heavy rainfall of 20 to 30 l/sq m in some places. and wind gusts up to 85 km/h. Due to the nature of the phenomenon, it is possible to raise the warning level. There may be hail locally.

In the following voivodeships: West Pomeranian, Pomeranian, Greater Poland, Lubusz, Lower Silesia and Opole, the warnings will be in force on Sunday from 12-9 p.m. In the following voivodeships: Silesia, Łódź, Warmia-Masuria and parts of Masovia, they will apply from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. In other regions, they will come into force at 3 p.m. on Sunday and expire at midnight.

The second level warning predicts the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena causing significant material losses and a threat to health and life. Dangerous phenomena or the effects of their occurrence significantly limit business activity. Expect disruptions to your daily functioning. Great caution is recommended, it is necessary to monitor the weather forecasts and developments. Follow all recommendations issued by emergency services in the event of an emergency. Adjust your plans to weather conditions.

The first level warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life.
