Lonely as a young man. Dating apps only make the problem worse

Young men are increasingly lonely. They have difficulty establishing social relationships and entering into relationships. As a result, their frustration and even anger towards women is growing, which far-right groups are trying to exploit. – This is a very serious problem that, unfortunately, is still very little talked about. And it will grow. It is like a time bomb that will eventually explode if we do not start a debate on how to defuse it – warns philosopher Dr. Katarzyna Kasia.

“America is facing a loneliness epidemic” and “a lack of social connections increases the risk of premature death at a level similar to that of daily cigarette smoking,” said US Surgeon General Dr. Vivek in May 2023 Murthy in an interview with the BBC.
A month later, the European Commission published a report showing that up to half of European Union citizens may struggle with loneliness. 13 percent respondents experience it most of the time, and 36 percent at least sometimes. The study was conducted on a group of over 20,000 people. people and – as its authors emphasize – it was the first analysis of this type to which respondents from all member states were subjected.
In mid-November, the World Health Organization concluded that Loneliness is another 'threat to global public health'. WHO has established a Commission on Social Connections, which over the next three years will undertake initiatives to help people establish social connections. “Loneliness transcends borders and is becoming a global public health problem,” said committee co-chair Chido Mpemba.
In Poland, as research shows, it is also a serious problem. However, it is most often associated with seniors, while loneliness is more often faced by young people, especially men.
What is loneliness?
According to research conducted in August 2022 by the Generation Institute (currently in liquidation) more than half of men under the age of 34 experience a deep sense of loneliness and two out of five women in the same age group. Older people are much less lonely. Among people over 50 years of age, one third of men and one in five women experience a deep sense of loneliness.
