Ahmed Ali, commander of the naval forces of the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas, was killed by Israeli army fire, the Israel Defense Forces and the Israeli Shin Bet intelligence agency reported.
Ahmed Ali was one of the commanders who were responsible for operations against Israeli troops during the war in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army said. Most recently, Ali directed operations in the Netzarim Corridor (a corridor through the Gaza Strip built by the Israeli army for military purposes) in the central Gaza Strip.
The Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023 marked the beginning of a new stage of the war in the Gaza Strip, which has been going on for seven months now. On the day of the attack, terrorists killed over 1,200 people and took over 240 hostages. They also attacked Israel from the sea. Responsible for this part of the operation included, among others: Ahmed Ali.
The war has led to a humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, where over a million people are starving. The armed conflict also left hundreds of thousands of Palestinians homeless. For months, humanitarian organizations and the international community have been trying to deliver humanitarian aid to the Zone.
Israel has been repeatedly accused of obstructing the entry of aid transports. However, the Israeli authorities deny that they are hindering the delivery of aid and attribute any problems to ongoing military operations.
