Wanted for almost 30 years, Denaro had a reputation not only as the last “big boss” of the Sicilian mafia, elusive to law enforcement, but also as a womanizer. “Rai News” reports that during the search of the criminal’s house, two phone numbers were found in his pants pocket. The officers reached the owners of both of them. Or rather, the owners, because the numbers belonged to two middle-aged women, probably Denaro’s lover. According to the Italian portal, one of them is a short-cut blonde, the other – a long-haired brunette.

“Rai News” adds that after the boss was detained, another woman came to the police, who claimed to be the man’s lover. She testified that she met with Denaro, not knowing that he was the most famous fugitive in Italy. The officers were not entirely convinced by such an explanation. The woman’s house was searched.

The portal is also reminiscent of several former mistresses and partners of the boss. In the years 1988-1993, Denaro was associated with Austrian Andrea Halsehner. Mafioso met her when she was 20 years old and she worked in one of the hotels in the south of Sicily. – She was blonde with blue eyes, about 170 meters tall – this is how a former associate of the criminal described her, quoted by “Rai News”.

“They will portray me as the devil, but that’s not true”

In the summer of 1993, the boss was already dating a woman named Sonia. It was to her that he sent one of the last messages before starting his life in hiding. “You will hear people talk about me, they will describe me as the devil, but all this is not true,” he wrote to his then mistress.

Later, living in hiding, Denaro met with other women. One of them was Francesca Alagna, the mother of the boss’s only child, Lorenza. After her appeared Maria Mesi, who was arrested in 2000 and then convicted of helping the mafia to hide from the services. “Rai News” also mentions an anonymous woman who was to give birth to the boss’s son more than 20 years ago. However, this story has not been confirmed.

Matteo Messina Denaro – who is this?

Matteo Messina Denaro is the former boss of Cosa Nostra and the son of its former boss in the Castelvetrano region, Francesco Messina, known by the nickname “Ciccio”. “Ciccio” was an ally of Toto Riina, a mafia boss famous for his cruelty in the Corleone region, whose protégé later became Matteo Messina Denaro himself. After the arrest and death of other “big bosses” of the Sicilian Mafia – Toto Riina and Bernardo Provenzano – Denaro began to be considered the last “big boss” of the Sicilian Mafia. Although he lived in hiding for almost 30 years, a court in absentia sentenced him to life in prison for his involvement in numerous murders.

Denaro himself said that “he could create a large cemetery for his victims.” He was involved in in the murder of the investigating judges Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino in 1992, and the bombings in Milan, Florence and Rome a year later, which killed 10 people.
