I'm coming back to politics, said Jacek Kurski, former president of TVP, on Monday. He announced that “he was re-admitted to Law and Justice.” Kurski joined the ranks of this formation in the past, but was excluded from it. Now, as a PiS candidate, he will seek a mandate as an MEP.

Law and Justice on Thursday, May 2, at the convention in Kielce presented its candidates for the European Parliament. The second place on the Masovian PiS list was taken by the former head of TVP, Jacek Kurski.

On Monday, on Telewizja Republika, politician Kurski talked a little more about his plans for the future. – I don't recognize my country and I realize that this is the moment when I should stand by Jarosław Kaczyński – he said.

– I have to fight for a normal, democratic, free Poland, that's why I'm returning to politics and I was accepted back into Law and Justice, Kurski added.

The application was to be signed by Kaczyński himself

Earlier on Monday, Wirtualna Polska reported that Jacek Kurski was admitted to PiS just before the registration of electoral lists for the European Parliament. He was supposed to submit the application when he finished serving as deputy executive director of the Swiss-Polish Constituent Assembly in the World Bank Group, a few months ago. According to WP, the application to admit Kurski to the formation was signed by PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński himself.

Jacek Kurski joined Law and Justice in the early 2000s, but in 2011 he was excluded from the party. At that time, he was subject to disciplinary proceedings in the group in connection with, among others, his public statements.

In his political history, he was also associated with the League of Polish Families, and built Solidarna Polska together with Zbigniew Ziobro. In 2014, he unsuccessfully ran for the European Parliament from this formation's lists and left the party in the same year. In 2016, he was appointed president of TVP. At the beginning of September 2022, the National Media Council dismissed him from this position.

Kurski started working as Alternate Executive Director of the Swiss-Polish Constituent Assembly of the World Bank Group in Washington in December 2022. In December 2023, the new Council of Ministers adopted a resolution entrusting the Minister of Finance with the task of representing the Polish state in international financial institutions. This meant the dismissal of the former president of TVP, Jacek Kurski, from the position of executive director.
