The Onet portal wrote, citing its sources, that judge Tomasz Szmydt, who went to Belarus and applied for asylum, “has been closely interested in the Internal Security Agency for at least several months.” The spokesman for the special services coordinator, Jacek Dobrzyński, denied this information.
On Monday, the state propaganda news agency BiełTA published a report from a press conference during which Tomasz Szmydt, a judge of the Provincial Administrative Court involved in the hate scandal, announced that he had asked the Belarusian authorities for asylum.
Immediately after that, the Internal Security Agency initiated inspection activities to verify the scope of classified information to which Szmydt had access, in connection with his function and the cases he conducted, as a judge of the Provincial Administrative Court in Warsaw. The National Prosecutor's Office conducts investigations into espionage.

Onet: Szmydt “was closely interested in the Internal Security Agency”
On Tuesday, the Onet portal wrote that Szmydt “has been closely interested in the Internal Security Agency for at least several months.” Such information – as the portal wrote – was confirmed by two independent sources from the Polish government and services.
Szmydt – we read in Onet – “was also supposed to be the subject of investigation by the Polish counterintelligence, which was collecting evidence aimed at arresting the judge on charges of conducting espionage activities for a foreign country.”
Onet informants claim that “Judge Szmydt has been in contact with the Belarusian services, as well as with the Russian services operating on Polish territory, for at least several years.”
The portal also wrote that the inspection at the Internal Security Agency, apart from the officially announced “verification of the scope of classified information to which the judge had access in connection with his function and conducted cases”, also concerns “how the uncontrolled departure from Poland to Belarus of judge Szmydt took place “.
The spokesman for the coordinator of special services comments
The editors of the TVN24 “Poland and World” program asked the spokesman of the Minister Coordinator of Special Services, Jacek Dobrzyński, to comment on Onet's findings.
Dobrzyński denied the information provided by the portal that Szmydt was under the control of the Internal Security Agency. He stated that there was no basis for this.
The spokesman also denied Onet's information regarding inspections at the Internal Security Agency.
