Senator Krzysztof Brejza informed at the meeting of the Senate committee for the clarification of cases of illegal surveillance with the Pegasus that “evidence is destroyed in the proceedings in which he has the status of a victim”. “It is extremely disturbing that in the most political case of recent decades, evidence is being destroyed under unclear circumstances,” he said.
At Friday’s meeting of the Extraordinary Committee for clarifying cases of illegal surveillance, their impact on the electoral process and the reform of secret services, Krzysztof Brejza was interrogated, accompanied by his wife and attorney, attorney Dorota Brejza.
At the beginning, Brejza revealed information that, as he said, had not been reported by the media so far. – We have worked through the whole case, but due to the pending criminal proceedings in Ostrów, in which I have been a victim of illegal hacking of my phone for a year and a half, I cannot disclose all, only a small part of the information I have – he warned.
– I very much hope that the moment will come soon when all the names and circumstances that took part in this greatest political provocation of the last twenty years will be revealed to the public so that it will know this anti-citizen, anti-democratic provocation against the opposition and against the conduct of the 2019 elections . We will see to it personally, because it is something that is in the public interest,” he said.
Brejza informed that he had received information that “evidence is being destroyed” in the proceedings. – A disc was destroyed, one of several discs for which material from my phone was obtained by the Pegasus cybernetic system. It was a record included in the proceedings – he described.
– The destroyed disc was a unique disc. The data cannot be reproduced, there is no one-to-one copy, he noted. – Importantly, the destruction of this disc does not allow us to determine what was uploaded to the phone – he noted, explaining that he had obtained information from Citizen Lab that “services PIS uploaded about one gigabyte of data to his phone.”
The senator noted that “it is important for the future prosecutor’s office, free from any political influence, which will be guided only by the letter of the law to explain all the circumstances of this scandalous event.”
– It is extremely disturbing that in the most political case of the last decades, the surveillance of the opposition’s electoral staff, the case of the European Watergate, evidence is being destroyed in unclear circumstances – said Brejza.

According to the Citizen Lab group operating at the University of Toronto, Krzysztof Brejza was spied on 33 times during the campaign before the parliamentary elections in 2019. At that time, Brejza was the head of the Civic Coalition’s campaign.

On April 26, 2019, the Warsaw judge approved the download of all data from Brejza’s phone after she received a request from the then deputy head CBA Grzegorz Ocieczek of April 24, 2019, accepted and sent to the District Court in Warsaw by Bogdan Święczkowski, then the first deputy prosecutor general Zbigniew Ziobro. Both Święczkowski, today a judge of the Constitutional Tribunal, and Ocieczek (in the past also a prosecutor and deputy head of the Internal Security Agency) are Ziobro’s closest associates.
