The Sejm decided in a vote to refer the draft act on the support of digital competences of students and teachers to the committee. The purpose of the act is to equip students of grade IV of primary schools with laptops and teachers of public primary schools with vouchers for the purchase of a laptop.

During the first reading, a motion to reject the draft act on the support of digital competences of students and teachers was submitted by the Confederation. 8 MPs voted for the rejection of the draft, 429 were against, 1 MP abstained from voting.

Thus, the project by PiS deputies, was referred for further work to the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science and Youth. The Sejm, in a vote, obliged the committee to present the report at this session of the chamber.

The draft act provides for the transfer of laptops every year – starting from the school year 2023/2024 – to subsequent years of fourth grade students of public and private primary schools. Laptops will be purchased centrally every year by the office servicing the minister responsible for computerization. The laptop handed over to the student will be the property of his parents, it will not be sold for a period of 5 years.
