By decision of the president of Law and Justice, Jarosław Kaczyński, Łukasz Kmita became the new head of PiS structures in Lesser Poland. On Monday, his candidacy was lost during the vote in the regional council, in which he was to be elected as the new marshal of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. He was the only candidate proposed by PiS.
“By decision of the president of PiS, Mr. Jarosław Kaczyński, MP Łukasz Kmita has become the new chairman of the PiS provincial board in Małopolska. Therefore, a new presidium of the voivodeship board will be established in the near future,” wrote PiS spokesman Rafał Bochenek on the X platform.
The profile of Krakow PiS structures published a letter on this matter signed by Jarosław Kaczyński. “The decision enters into force on the day of its adoption,” we read.
Łukasz Kmita replaced MP Andrzej Adamczyk as the head of the Małopolska PiS structures.
He was not elected voivodeship marshal
On Monday, MP Łukasz Kmita was not elected by the regional assembly as the new marshal of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. 13 out of 38 councilors present during the vote voted for his candidacy, 22 councilors were against and two abstained. One vote was invalid. Kmita was not elected despite the fact that he was the only candidate recommended by PiS, which has a majority in the 39-person Lesser Poland assembly with 21 seats. The Civic Coalition has 12 seats and Third Droga has six seats.

PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński, asked by journalists on Wednesday about the situation of PiS in Małopolska, said: “well, it's a rebellion, it's a matter of some differences of opinion there.”
When asked whether MP Kmita did not like local activists, he replied that “some people sometimes don't like new people, those who are anything, let's say high-class, in the intellectual sense.” He added that it was sad and he would fight it.
