The body of an elderly woman washed up on the shore of the beach in Łeba. The identity of the deceased and the circumstances of her death are being investigated by the police under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
Information about the gruesome discovery on the beach in Łeba was received by the duty officer of the Lębork police station on Sunday, February 19, around 7.40 from the number 112 of the Voivodeship Rescue Notification Center. At the height of entrance number 31, the body of a woman between 65 and 75 years old was found washed up from the sea.

The duty officer directed a police patrol together with a forensic technician and the prosecutor of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lębork. The scene was secured by droogs from the Volunteer Fire Brigade from Łeba.

– The woman’s body has already been secured in the dissecting room for autopsy. The woman did not have any identity documents with her. The police are trying to establish the identity of the deceased – says Asp. staff. Magdalena Zielke, Press Officer of the Poviat Police Commander in Lębork.
Only an autopsy will reveal the likely cause of death.

During one night, firefighters recorded over 1,800 incidents, of which almost 1,200 incidents occurred in the coastal part of the country. The hurricane also made extinguishing difficult a huge fire in a tenement house in Sopot.
It is not known whether the woman’s death could be related to the storm in the Baltic Sea.
