IMGW warns against icing in the southern parts of Poland. Slippery roads and sidewalks will be there from Sunday evening to Monday morning. There will be strong winds across the country on Monday. The strongest gusts are expected on the coast – according to the threat forecast.
Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued first degree meteorological warnings and a threat forecast for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
IMGW alerts – icing
First degree ice warnings have been issued for the following provinces:
– Silesianfor counties: Cieszyn, Bielsko, Bielsko-BialaÅ»ywiec;
– Lesser Polandfor the counties: Wadowice, Sucha, Nowy Targ, TatrzaÅ„ski, Limanowski, Nowy SÄ…cz, Nowy Sacz;
– Subcarpathianfor the districts: JasÅ‚o, Krosno, loomSanok, Lesko, Bieszczady.
Wet surfaces of roads and pavements are forecast to freeze after rain and sleet, causing them to become icy. The minimum temperature will be about -5 degrees Celsius, while at the ground it will drop to about -7 degrees Celsius.
Alerts will be valid from 6 p.m. on Sunday until 8 on Monday.
IMGW threat forecast for Monday
Strong winds will return on Monday. It will be most dangerous at the seaside. For the province West Pomeranianfor counties: Gryfice, Kołobrzeg, Białogard, Koszalin, Koszalin and Sławno, as well as for the province Pomeranianfor the districts of Słupsk, Słupsk, Lębork, Wejherowo and Puck, forecasters plan to issue second-level warnings.
IN other regions of the country level 1 high wind alerts may apply.
IMGW threat forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday
On Tuesday, the weather should calm down, but both on this day and on Wednesday, IMGW expects to issue a warning against thaws in southern Poland.
The first degree alerts will probably apply in the following provinces: Silesian (districts: Cieszyn, Bielski, Bielsko-Biała and Żywiecki), Lesser Poland (districts: Sucha, Nowy Targ, Limanowski, Nowy Sącz, Nowy Sącz, Gorlice) and Subcarpathian (districts: Jasielski, Krosno, Sanok, Lesko, Bieszczady).
What is the first degree IMGW meteorological warning
The first degree warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material damage and threat to health and life.
