Earlier, the police received a report about the disappearance of a 51-year-old resident of the Smętowo Graniczne commune, and the investigators determined that he flew away in a private helicopter in an unknown direction.

According to investigators, the missing man took off from a private area in a green and black Robinson R22 helicopter around 1 p.m. and flew away in an unknown direction.
The duty officer immediately sent police officers from the nearby police stations and the Poviat Police Headquarters in Starogard Gdański to the place, who were supported by officers of the Prevention Police Department in Gdańsk and conducted searches in the field. The Polish Air Navigation Services Agency sent a SAR helicopter to the search area. The police also informed the neighboring units about the man’s disappearance, reports the command from Starogard Gdański.
After 9 p.m., the services received information about finding a crashed helicopter in a forest complex near Leśna Jania. Inside was the body of the pilot. The State Commission for Investigation of Aircraft Accidents will clarify the circumstances of this incident, police officers add.
