The night from Monday to Tuesday was crucial for winemakers. – It froze so hard that night that the bushes could not be saved. In some places it was even -8/-7 degrees, said Nadia Rulak, TVN24 reporter. She added that the frosts caused huge losses.
– At such a low temperature, all methods fail, both burning candles and releasing heat from the ground – said Katarzyna Żelazna from Winnica Żelazny. – What I found here is a very sad picture. Three days earlier it was green and blooming, and then when I arrived it was gray and brown. Frozen vines look like burnt, she added.

Krzysztof Fedorowicz from Winnica Miłosz said that the losses would be huge. – Of course, there will be some fruit, but it will be 5-10 percent of what in a normal year. The financial losses will be very large, he said. – I planted vineyards in 2004, we had such a frost in 2011, so it doesn't happen very often – he added.
