We are still at war with PiS to settle what has been happening for eight years. And sometimes it happens that different soldiers are in different sections on this front – said Marcin Kierwiński, Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, one of the Civic Coalition's candidates to the European Parliament, in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24. He said about his management of the ministry that “if it was five minutes, it was a very intense five minutes.”

The deadline for registering lists of candidates for Members of the European Parliament is May 2. On Wednesday, the National Council of the Civic Platform approved the lists of candidates of the Civic Coalition in these elections. They also included current government ministers: Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, Borys Budka and Marcin Kierwiński.

Kierwiński talked more about his start in the European elections on Thursday in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24.

– We are still at war with PiS, a war for decency, the rule of law, and for settling what has been happening for eight years. And sometimes it happens that different soldiers are in different sections on this front. For five months I had the honor and pleasure of working in the government of Prime Minister Donald Tusk. A lot of things have been done when it comes to clearing up cases in the police, including settling accounts. I think that most things are pointed in the right direction, said the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration.

He said about his management of the Ministry of Interior and Administration that “if it was five minutes, it was a very intense five minutes.”

When asked when he would resign, he replied that – as announced by Prime Minister Donald Tusk – the government reconstruction would take place on May 10. In turn, when asked whether Tomasz Siemoniak, the current coordinator of special services, could be his successor, he replied: – In terms of competence, yes. But whether it will be Tomasz Siemoniak will be decided by the Prime Minister.

The TVN24 guest, asked whether he knew when he took up the position of head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration that his mission might last only until the elections to the European Parliament, replied that he did not assume it would last for five months. – However, this is a decision that is obviously the result of my dialogue with Prime Minister Donald Tusk – he added.

Kierwiński: I want to use my experience

Kierwiński also said that if he were elected to the European Parliament, he would like to deal with security issues.

– Yesterday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said very clearly that one of the key issues will be the issue of security and also changing the European Union's perspective on the migration pact and what is happening on the eastern borders of the European Union. After these few months of quite intensive work, also with the new commander of the Border Guard on the expansion of the barrier (on the border with Belarus – ed.), I also want to use this experience to talk about it in the European Parliament – declared the guest of “Kropka nad i”.

– We need to restore somewhat the European Union in Poland and Poland in the European Union. This is a great opportunity and great hope, also in these difficult times, he added.

Kierwiński: Andrzej Duda was in the classic form of the PiS president

The head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration also commented on President Andrzej Duda's reaction to the speech of the head of Polish diplomacy, Radosław Sikorski, in the Sejm.

The head of diplomacy speaks, the president's emotions are clearly visible

– Mr. President was in the classic form of a PiS president, i.e. every attempt to assess PiS foreign policy caused a wave of hatred and aggression in him. I don't know whether the president was so affected by the fact that Minister Sikorski showed that important PiS politicians today meet with the pro-Putin agenda in Europe. Or maybe he was so affected by the way Radosław Sikorski talked about our alliances within the European Union – he continued.

Kierwiński said that “it is amazing that the president, on such fundamental issues as Polish foreign policy, is not able to look for constructive fields of cooperation with the government, but simply has to look for conflict with such blunt political propaganda.” – I don't understand this – he said.

Kierwiński: the next president, for the good of Poland, will agree to the reform of the secret services

The head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration also referred to the planned liquidation of the CBA and to the announcements coming from the president's support that he will not sign the law on this matter.

– There is no surprise here. After all, for many years the president did not react to the pathologies that were happening at the CBA. The CBA was supposed to be a service that fights criminals. Under the PiS government, this service repeatedly protected criminals associated with PiS, he said.

When asked what would happen if the president did not agree to the liquidation of this service, he replied: – Then we will wait, the president will be president for only one more year. The next president, for the good of Poland, will agree to the reform of the secret services.
