Hungarians go shopping en masse to Slovakia

Hungarians flock to grocery stores in southern Slovakia, the Hungarian economic portal G7.hu reported. He added that people who live far from the border, even more than 100 kilometers away, are increasingly choosing to shop with our northern neighbor.

As the portal notes, parking lots of grocery stores in Komarno (Hungarian: Revkomarom) in southwestern Slovakia near the border with Hungary are full of cars with Hungarian number plates every weekend.

It's not just about people living close to the border; People living more than 100 km away are increasingly going shopping to Slovakia, says the portal, based on information in groups on social networking sites.

According to an Ipsos poll discussed by the Hungarian media on Friday, as many as 83 percent Węgrów believes that the country is heading in the wrong direction; Only Peru had a more pessimistic result. The study also showed that only 17 percent Węgrów assesses the condition of the national economy as good.

The main concerns of Hungarian society are corruption, poverty and inflation, according to data published by Ipsos.

The survey was conducted from March 22 to April 5, 2024 in 29 countries via the Ipsos Online Panel system. The total number of respondents was 25,302 people; in the case of Hungary, the sample was 500 people.
