The first news about explosives reached its recipients on Tuesday after five o'clock in the morning. As a result, the police with sniffer dogs and bomb disposal specialists appeared in many places. They also led to evacuation.
As it turned out, the phenomenon was massive – it was reported throughout the country over a thousand similar reports. They concerned not only – but primarily – schools, but also other places, such as banks or shops.
Authorities said that while there were no explosions, any such explosions were reported as news of a bomb they treat individually and rate it in the “serious crime” category.
It is not known what the exact message was. According to unofficial information from the local government television, they were written in Slovaksent from Russian email address and are aimed at people who have been defined as “enemies of Islam”.
Slovak services assure that they are doing everything to identify the people behind sending the message.
It was emphasized that suspending educational activities may have “far-reaching consequences” for which the perpetrator or perpetrators may be punished life imprisonment.
