An 18-year-old from the vicinity of Nowy Sącz (Lesser Poland Voivodeship), suspected of trying to murder two people and hitting a policeman trying to stop him, is facing a life sentence. The injured – two 20-year-olds who were stabbed – fought for their lives in the hospital.
On December 31 in the morning, two 20-year-olds with life-threatening stab wounds were taken to the hospital in Nowy Sącz. The information was sent to the police, who started the search for the attacker.

Investigators determined that the victims took part in a meeting on New Year’s Eve, during which a fight broke out. According to the police, during the argument, the 20-year-olds were attacked with a sharp object. According to the officers, an 18-year-old resident of the Nowy Sącz area was responsible for the attack. On January 5, he was arrested.

The 18-year-old was charged with two counts of attempted murder. The 18-year-old was also charged with assaulting a police officer. The man, in order to avoid arrest, hit a police officer who was working on the case with his car. Fortunately, the officer did not suffer any serious injuries, said Justyna Basiaga, the press officer of the Nowy Sącz police.
The man is now facing life imprisonment. By the court’s decision, he was placed in pre-trial detention for three months.
