Hubert Kijek and five “astronauts” have been staying for several days in the LunAres habitat, i.e. an environment that simulates the lunar environment. “Our Man in the Moon” introduced us to the crew members. Among them are, among others, geologist Jonathan Cruz and Anna Łasecka, who is an officer in charge of the biological laboratory.
Hubert Kijek has been taking part in the Theia II 2023 mission since Friday, which takes place at the LunAres research center, located near saws (Greater Poland Voivodeship). There are a total of six “astronauts” in the habitat from different countries: Poland, Germany and Mexico.

One of the crew members is Jonathan Cruz. – I’m here because I’m professionally involved in projects and experiments in the field of geology. In the future, he wants to be an astronaut and a nuclear engineer, he wants to build reactors on the moon and Mars.
Anna Łasecka is also staying in the LunAres habitat. “I’m the biology lab officer on this mission.” It will be a wonderful time, she said.
– I’m here because I love technology, science and cosmos. I wanted to become an analog astronaut to inspire others to pursue their dreams, no matter how big that dream is,” said fellow crew member Christian Durán Bonilla.

The expedition leader is Commander Dirk Raiser. – It is an honor for me to be the commander of this mission. Of course, I know that comes with a lot of responsibility. Fortunately, we have a great crew – said BIS Raiser in an interview with TVN24 reporter. “For now, I’m feeling fine, and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens during the mission,” he added. – I am the father of five children, I do not want to compare the crew to children, but on a daily basis I have to deal with the needs of a group of different characters, so I think I will manage – emphasized the commander.
Another member of the expedition is Krzysztof Stężała, the deputy commander and the person responsible for the 3D printer. – We have many projects at the research station, they often require designing a new item overnight, a new mechanism that will make it easier for us to perform our tasks. This is a kind of preparation for future space missions, where the base on the moon, for example, will be too far away to be able to send parts by courier. In the future, astronauts will have to fend for themselves with such printers, he added.
