After three years of absence due to the poor technical condition of the tracks and catenary, and then renovation, the first tram ran through Pabianice. For now – as reported by MPK in Łódź, it was a measuring wagon that tested the new infrastructure. According to the city authorities, tram line 41 from Pabianice to Łódź will carry the first passengers on Saturday.
The last tram passed through Pabianice in November 2019. The reason for the closure of line 41 was the terrible condition of the track and traction network. For the last three years, a thorough reconstruction of the dilapidated infrastructure has been underway – from the borders of Łódź through Ksawerów to the end point at Wiejska Street in Pabianice.
The first tram after renovation ran through Pabianice
On Tuesday, the inhabitants of Pabianice rubbed their eyes in amazement. The first tram passed along the renovated track, assisted by the Municipal Police. – This is a measuring wagon, packed with electronics, which tested, among other things, electric traction. This is quite a normal procedure, we will conduct several such courses before the launch of line 41 – explained Piotr Wasiak from the Municipal Transport Company in Łódź.
Line 41 is back on track
– Tram line 41 will carry passengers from July 1. Official ceremonies related to this will take place on September 3 and will be combined with the Pabianice Days – says Aneta Klimek, spokeswoman for the president. He adds that the tram line 41 will run from the end stop at Wiejska Street to Plac Niepodległości in Łódź. – on the carrier’s website, but also at stops, there are timetables, you can read them – Klimek reports.
The renovation of the tram route from Pabianice to the border with Łódź cost PLN 186 million.
