From January 2023, pensioner’s ID cards are issued by the Social Insurance Institution only in electronic form, unless an application for a traditional document is submitted, ZUS explains. The mLegitimacja can be stored on your own mobile device, for example a phone, using the free mObywatel application.

– Pensioners who received ID cards in the form of a plastic ID card before January 1, 2023, will also be automatically issued with an electronic ID card. Such persons will be able to use both versions of the document – both traditional and electronic – said the president ZUS prof. Gertrude Uscinska.

Pensioner’s ID cards in electronic form

From 1 January 2023, pensioner ID cards are issued by ZUS in electronic form. You can use them on your own mobile device, e.g. on your phone, using the free mObywatel mobile application. In the application, just select the “Add document” option and indicate the pensioner ID card in the displayed list of documents.

mLegitimacja works just like a traditional document. By showing it on the smartphone screen, the entitled person will confirm that he or she is a pensioner and will take advantage of the reliefs and entitlements to which he is entitled, e.g. discounts on tickets.

After January 1. pensioners who want to receive a traditional identity card in the form of a card must submit an application in this regard.

Pensioners’ and pensioners’ ID cards issued before 2023 are valid according to the given validity date.
