On the day of the Polish Army Day, the head of the Ministry of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak met with soldiers of the operational and territorial defense forces at the base in Jarylówka near Bobrowniki (Podlaskie Voivodeship), near the border with Belarus. – Thanks to your service, Poland is safe – he said.
The Minister of National Defense met the soldiers at an occasional dinner organized in the open air. In addition to the meal prepared by the military kitchen, there were also bonfires for roasting sausages. – I came to thank you. When there was a parade in Warsaw (…), I said that I would come to you to thank you for your service, because the most important thing is what you do here, your service on the Polish-Belarusian border – he said.
He told the soldiers that there was “strong applause” directed at them during the parade. – I pass on to you thanks from the many people who came to the parade in Warsaw today. (…) It’s the Polish Army Day, so I couldn’t imagine that I wouldn’t come to you and wish you well – said Błaszczak.
He assured that the service of soldiers on the border with Belarus “is appreciated by our compatriots”. “People really appreciate you for this difficult service, these are the challenges you face (…). Thanks to your service, Poland is safe – added the head of the Ministry of National Defence.
Błaszczak: The Polish Army is to have 300,000 soldiers
Błaszczak emphasized that his priority – as the Minister of Defense – is to increase the size of the army. – We are establishing new military units (…), the Polish Army is to consist of 300,000 soldiers and this is really realistic – he added. He repeated the information about arms purchases and cooperation within the framework FOR THIS.
“We have been supporting the Border Guard for over seven hundred days”
At the military base in Jarylówka there are soldiers of the 12th Mechanized Brigade, the 1st Podlaska Territorial Defense Brigade and other TD brigades. – We have been supporting the Border Guard for over seven hundred days. The first phase of the Border Patrol support operation has taken place since its introduction state of emergency (in the border area with Belarus – ed.), lasted until the Russian aggression on Ukraine – Captain Łukasz Wilczewski, press officer of the 1st Podlaska OT Brigade, told journalists.
He added that then the TDF had tasks mainly in the depths of the border zone and dealt, among other things, with stopping illegal migrants and the so-called couriers, i.e. drivers who come to pick up these migrants.
– In the second phase, that is, from the moment of the explosion war in Ukraine, we serve on the designated section on the Polish-Belarusian border. What is unique about it is that there is no permanent dam on it, due to natural conditions – said Capt. Wilczewski, reserving that the service is performed there all the time and this section is also secured.
