Smallpox makes itself known. As the TVN24 reporter said, there are now many more cases of this disease than a year ago. Deputy Minister of Health Waldemar Kraska pointed out in this context the lack of vaccination of children. – We will certainly try to reach parents to convince them to vaccinate their children – he added.

As Łukasz Wójcik said, the current level of measles cases is a “dangerous approach to the border” from 2014, a recent record in terms of smallpox morbidity. – Because just then, in June, about 148,000 cases of the disease were recorded – he said.

The National Institute of Public Health NIH – National Research Institute reported that over 130,000 people have fallen ill since the beginning of the year. A year ago, at the same time, it was over 90,000.

Wójcik added that the increase in smallpox cases can also be seen in the number of children with smallpox complications staying in hospitals in pediatric wards.

“The anti-vaccine movement has done its job”

The deputy minister of health spoke about the growing number of cases Waldemar Kraska. He drew attention to the lack of vaccination among children.

– The anti-vaccination movement has done its job because many parents do not want to vaccinate their children. This is very evident in smallpox, for example. And I regret that because these are vaccines that have been in our system for many years,” he said.

As he said, these vaccines are safe and do not cause any complications. – And unfortunately, we see that we have more of these diseases, especially in the post-pandemic period. We will certainly try to reach parents to convince them to vaccinate their children, he added.
