Due to an energy failure, the New ZOO in Poznań was closed. Emergency services are on site and doing everything they can to restore power to the facility as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, garden workers are trying to heat the animal pavilions with special stoves.
In a statement published on Saturday, it was announced that “due to an energy failure, the New Zoo will be closed today.” As Remigiusz Koziński, head of the education and volunteering department, explains, the constant movement of visitors and opening the doors would cool down the rooms.
The services working on site assure that they are doing everything to restore power to the garden as soon as possible.
– We are clearly dealing with a more serious failure. It’s definitely not a matter of one fuse, says Koziński.
Employees bend over backwards to ensure the animals have the required temperature, for example by adding special heaters to the zoo.
– I hope that the zoo will be able to open tomorrow, but I cannot be 100% sure – emphasizes the manager.
Failure also in the Old Zoo
Due to technical problems, the Pavilion of Cold-blooded Animals in the Old Zoo is also closed on Saturday. However, as reported, this situation is not related to the energy failure in the New Zoo.
