President Andrzej Duda presented state decorations to police officers who returned from a humanitarian mission in Ukraine. They dealt with, among other things, disarming mines. – The mission was carried out in secret, we did not say anything about it. You performed it as a humanitarian task, because in fact it was a humanitarian task – to enable people to function normally, safely in the future – said the president.
The ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace. – I’m very grateful. I would like to thank you, gentlemen, on behalf of the entire Republic of Poland, on behalf of the entire society, for the exemplary performance of an extremely difficult and extremely dangerous task, said the president.
He added that on this mission, “the risk was double, maybe even triple.” – Firstly, they were explosives, secondly, they could have been materials, in many cases deliberately placed as traps in order to do harm. And thirdly, because it happened where there was a war, where your service was interrupted by anti-aircraft alarms, where a combat situation could arise at any moment – Duda enumerated.
– You pulled over two thousand pieces of various types of dangerous materials – mines, bullets, unexploded ordnance, abandoned ammunition, grenades, grenade launchers – he turned to the officers.
