The District Prosecutor's Office in Szczecin filed an indictment against parents who abused their two minor children in Pyrzyce (West Pomeranian Voivodeship). They face up to eight years in prison.
The case became famous at the beginning of June 2023, when an 18-month-old boy was admitted to hospital with head injuries. The child's mother called an ambulance. Both the woman and her partner were arrested in the case. They were both charged with child abuse.
– The District Prosecutor's Office in Pyrzyce submitted an indictment to the court against two perpetrators suspected of abusing two minor children. The woman and her partner started fights, constantly disturbing the children. Moreover, they violated their bodily integrity, causing injuries in the form of bruises – said prosecutor Piotr Wieczorkiewicz, press spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Szczecin.
Serious head injuries
He added that the couple caused very serious head injuries to one of the children. The boy required surgery. – These were head injuries in the form of a subdural hematoma that required immediate surgical intervention. This caused a disease that really threatened the child's life and exposed him to the risk of loss of life or serious damage to health – emphasized the prosecutor.
The suspects did not confess to the crimes they were accused of. They have not been punished so far. They face from 6 months to 8 years in prison.
