The Moldovan Foreign Ministry has announced that it will summon Russian ambassador Oleg Vasnetsov to clarify media reports that spying equipment has been installed on the roof of the Russian embassy in Chisinau.

The Insider portal and the Moldovan TV channel reported that 28 satellite dishes, masts and transmitting and receiving devices were installed on the embassy and the neighboring residential building, which is used by diplomats and technical staff.

In a joint report, the media reported that people associated with Russian intelligence had been seen on the buildings.

“We believe that espionage or foreign interference in internal affairs Moldova are absolutely unacceptable, which is a direct challenge to the sovereignty and national security of the Moldovan state,” the Moldovan Foreign Ministry said.

Russia denied accusations by Moldova of meddling in its affairs, particularly in the separatist region of Transnistria.

Tension between Russia and Moldova

Tension between the two countries has also increased over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Moldova, which borders Ukraine, condemned the armed attack.

In February, Russia rejected the accusation of the Moldovan president of conspiracy to destabilize the former Soviet republic. The Russian Foreign Ministry described such claims as “completely baseless.”
