Shakira gave her first interview since the release of two songs in which the singer refers to the breakup with Gerard Piqué. “I believed that a woman needed a man who complemented her. The interview was broadcast on Monday, February 27 on Mexican TV N+. In an interview with journalist Enrique Acevedo, Shakira, for the first time since the release of two songs that the media from around the world wrote about, told m. about her songwriting experiences and how it made her stronger.

Shakira on how the famous song was created
One of the songs was created in collaboration with an Argentinian rapper nicknamed Bizarrap. The singer admitted that it was the idea of her 10-year-old son, Milan, thanks to whom she got to know the rapper’s work. “One of the things I’m most thankful for is that he gave me space, an opportunity to let off steam. It was a great relief, needed for my own healing, for my own recovery process – she emphasized. “I think I would be in a completely different place if I hadn’t recorded this song and had no chance to express myself, to think about the pain (…). I entered the studio different and left it different,” she said.
The song “BZPR music Sessions vol. 53” was released on January 11 and since then its author has been at the forefront of the world press. CNN notes that on social media, the song sparked a wave of both support for the singer and criticism due to this form of “healing wounds” after the breakup. Shakira sings in the song, among others that Piqué left her for a 22-year-old woman. “You left me with your mom as a neighbor. With a press at my door and a debt at the IRS. You thought you’d hurt me, but you made me stronger (…) I’m worth two 22-year-olds, you traded a Ferrari for a Twingo, you traded a Rolex for a Casio” – reads a fragment of the song. The second song, in which the singer sings about parting, was released on February 24. “Watching you with the new one hurt me, but now I’m focusing on myself,” Shakira sings in the song “TQG”.

In an interview with Acevedo, Shakira admitted that she has always been “emotionally dependent on men”. “I believed that a woman needed a man who complemented her. I had dreams of a family where children are with their mother and father under one roof. Not all dreams come true, but life has its ways of compensating. – What is difficult for people is that in unexpected situations we do not know how we will react. I didn’t know I could become strong. I have always believed that I am sensitive and delicate. And it’s true that I have a bit of everything in me, but you have to have faith in yourself, she said. “Now I feel complete, I feel that I am dependent on myself and that I have two children who need me, so I need to be stronger than a lioness,” she added.
Shakira and Piqué separated in June 2022 after 11 years of relationship. They have two sons – Milan and Sasha. The media quickly established that the woman with whom Piqué was supposed to cheat on the singer and is now his partner is Clara Chía Martí.
