Six German tourists aged 21 to 23 have been remanded in custody on charges of gang raping an 18-year-old German woman. The incident allegedly took place in a hotel in Playa de Palma, Mallorca, Balearic Islands (Spain). The decision on the arrest was made by a judge of the Palma investigative court.
According to court sources cited by the Spanish media, the young woman came to Mallorca on holiday with some friends. The island is often visited by German tourists.
According to previous findings, last Wednesday, a citizen German she met one of her compatriots, talked to him in a restaurant by the beach, drank alcohol. Later, the couple went to the hotel room where the German was staying. During the rapprochement, which was supposed to take place with the woman’s consent, five of the man’s colleagues were to enter the room.
One of the perpetrators recorded the incident
According to a police report published on Saturday, four of them forced the girl to have sexual relations against her will, and one recorded the whole situation with a mobile phone. After returning to her hotel, the girl notified the police, who detained all those suspected of participating in the gang rape. The police confiscated the phone with the recording as evidence in the criminal proceedings.
An ambulance was called by the officers and took the victim to the hospital.
The case is being investigated by the Special Police Family and Welfare of Women Unit (UFAM), which is determining the role of each detainee in the crime.
