On Sunday, an explosion took place at the Academy of Art in Szczecin. Three people were injured: two lecturers and a student. “We are all shocked by this event” – said the rector of the university. The services are investigating the circumstances and causes of the incident.
We received information about the explosion at the Academy of Art in Szczecin on Sunday Contact 24. According to an Internet user, there was an explosion of a substance in one of the workshops, as a result of which three people were injured.
Three people injured
We contacted the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Szczecin. – We intervened in a public utility building on Kolumba Street. One crew went to the spot. Three people were burned by the explosion of solvent-based liquids, the vapors of which are flammable. They weren’t corrosive things. 15 people who were in the building left the place before the arrival of the fire brigade – said Captain Franciszek Goliński, spokesman for the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Szczecin.
He said the injured people were taken to the hospital. One of these people – a 20-year-old student – has burns on 90 percent of her body. Her condition is severe. She was taken to a hospital in Gryfice, which specializes in helping burn victims. The 33- and 40-year-old female lecturers were slightly injured – they have burns on their faces and chests.

Rector of the Academy of Art in Szczecin Mirosława Jarmołowicz issued a statement on this matter. “We are all shocked by this event. At the moment, our thoughts are directed to the injured student and lecturers who are under the care of doctors. We hope that they will all recover. The university is cooperating with the services investigating the circumstances of the event” – said the rector.
Goliński noted that the details of the event and what exactly happened will be determined by the services.
