On Friday around 4.30 pm, a resident of Żory witnessed a 30-year-old driving on Gliwicka Street in Szczejkowice near Rybnik. According to police, the man was driving the Volkswagen across the width of the road. He eventually lost control of the vehicle, drove off the slope and into a ditch.

The woman notified the authorities. The man walked away from the incident without any injuries. A breathalyzer test showed that he had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

“The irresponsible driver has already lost his driving license, and he is facing up to two years in prison for the crime committed,” the police statement reads.

On the same day, on Friday, just after 10 pm, during a patrol on the national road No. 81 in Mikołów, traffic police officers noticed an Audi, which they had previously reported. The day before, the witness allegedly saw a drunk man drive to his home in this car.

The policemen stopped the Audi and examined the 33-year-old Mikołów resident. Result: almost three per mille. In addition, the police system showed three active, court-ordered driving disqualifications. The 33-year-old had already had his driving license suspended. “For a disrespectful approach to the applicable regulations, and above all to the basic rules of road safety, the inhabitant of Mikołów will stand trial again. This time he will face a penalty of up to five years in prison” – announce the law enforcement officers from Mikołów.

On Saturday afternoon, a drunk driver fell into the hands of a policeman from Jastrzębie-Zdrój, who was shopping in a shop in Połomia in the Wodzisław district after duty.

A store employee informed the police officer that one of the customers, who appeared to be intoxicated, was driving a car. Just after leaving the store, a policeman noticed a Renault driver entering the parking lot. “When he opened the car door, he was almost sure that the man was drunk. After introducing himself and identifying himself, he ordered the driver to turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition,” the police statement reads.

A traffic patrol from Wodzisław arrived at the site and took over the activities. A breathalyser test showed the 24-year-old’s body was almost 100% in excess. Driving while intoxicated is punishable by a hefty fine and imprisonment for up to two years.
